Waimea Canyon Lookout1522 viewsWe had to do a LITTLE of the touristy stuff. And, take the obligatory tourist photo. Only thing missing here is the Star News (you have to be a Star News subscriber to get that).

Waimea Canyon1531 viewsWaimea Canyon, also known as the Grand canyon of the Pacific, is approximately ten miles long and up to 3,000 feet deep. The canyon was formed by a deep incision of the Waimea River which is fed from the extreme rainfall on the island's central peak, Mount Waiʻaleʻale. Mount Waiʻaleʻale is among the wettest places on earth.

View From The Balcony1527 viewsThis is the view from our second story balcony. It was a wonderful place to sit and relax in the evening listening to the surf roll in.

Sunset From The Beach House1985 viewsAfter a nice dinner at the Beach House in Poipu, we enjoyed this beautiful sunset from the lawn just outside the restaraunt.

Room With A View1524 viewsThe Kiahuna Plantation & the Beach Bungalows is a series of small 2 story bungalows that house from 2 to 6 units depending on how many bedrooms. Our second story one bedroom was very nice.

Red-Crested Cardinal 11684 viewsThe Red-Crested Cardinal is not native to Hawaii but was introduced around 1930 from South America.

Plumeria1517 viewsProbably Lynne's favorite flowers, the Plumerias were everywhere.

On The Beach1982 viewsOn the beach at Poihale State Park. Several miles of warm sand along with some small sand dunes. We were one of only several groups along the entire stretch of beach.

Na Pali Inside Out1783 viewsWe took a wonderful boat ride along the Na Pali Coast. They stopped at several points of interest along the way, the highlight being when they backed into one of the many Sea Caves. Quite a feat considering the fairly rough seas at the time.

Na Pali Coast1811 viewsThis fifteen-mile stretch of rugged coastline on the northwest shore of Kauai literally means "the Cliffs." Much of Na Pali Coast is inaccessible due to its characteristic sheer cliffs that drop straight down, thousands of feet into the ocean.

Makana Peak1807 viewsBali Hai Or Makana Peak as the Hawaiians call it, was used in the movie South Pacific. In ancient times, men would climb the peak carrying special spears made of Hau and Papala. When darkness fell, they would light the speers and throw them into the ocean below.
