Kansas City Thunderstorm3119 viewsI was visiting Kansas City, MO and I was staying in the Downtown Marriott Hotel. A nice Thunderstorm was passing through and I was watching it out my window on the 14th Floor. I got to see several good lightning strikes and was able to capture this one with my camera. Taken with my Canon 5D, 30 second exposure @ f14, ISO 100.

Double Rainbow 9/4/20113491 viewsA high pressure system over the four corners area combined with a low pressure system off the southern california coast steered subtropical moisture into Southern California this evening. This provided Altadena residents with rare summer showers and a thunderstorm this evening.

This double Rainbow was seen at Sunset.

This was taken at the end of the Kagel Canyon Truck Trail in the Angeles National Forest above the San Fernando Valley. It was sort of an overcast day but at approximately 3550 Above Sea Level we were above the haze. This was the view looking West toward Oat Mountain.

Havasu Lightning2655 viewsI captured this lightning using my first Digital Camera, an Olympus C-5050Z. I had it in "Manual" mode set for the maximum exposure of 16 seconds. I took quite a few exposures this way during the lightning storm.

Several storms out in the Pacific were beginning to affect Northern California with heavy rain. These same storms were causing heavy surf all along the coast. A large west-northwest swell continued to affect the outer coastal waters of Southern California today. Breakers of 8 to 12 feet, with locally higher sets, pounded the coastline. Here you see the waves crashing against the end of the Manhattan Beach Pier
