Quebec 1 and Quebec 2. Those are the Radio Callsigns for the two Super Scoopers from Canada. Every year, beginning Oct 1, these 2 amazing airplanes are loaned to the Southern California area during our Fire Season. They were at the Hollywwod Burbank Airport and special permission was given to use them early to fight this fire. They fly to a nearby lake, or even the ocean, and scoop up 1000's of gallons of water which they precisely drop on the hot spots.

Red Flag Sunrise2000 viewsTaken 2/7/06
Another Red Flag Warning for Southern California. Gusty Winds and extreme Low Humidity prompted another day of Red Flag Fire Danger. This beautiful Sunrise, looking East from Downtown Los Angeles is unfortunately made more dramatic with smoke in the air from a fire burning out of control in the Cleveland National Forest. Over 3500 Acres have burned with some progress being made this morning. Fortunately there have not been any injuries or homes lost at this point in time.

Wood Fairies2137 viewsTaken 11/12/06
Have you ever heard stories about the Wood Fairies? It has to do with Fairies escaping from the wood burned in campfires. I’m not sure where the story originated but apparently its true. Can you see them in the photo leaving the fire?

Lowe Fire 11991 viewsA small brush fire in Altadena, CA, 8/26/07, was brought under control quickly by Angeles National Forest and Los Angeles County Fire Crews. Due to the rough terrain, the fire was fought primarily from the air with the support of Camp Crews. In this photo, one of the new BlackHawk Helicopters used by Los Angeles County Fire snorkels water from a "Pumpkin" set up at a nearby Helispot. The BlackHawks can carry 1,000 Gallons compared to 300 carried by older Helicopters.
