To start off the 2005 Rose Parade, there was a beautiful flyby of the B-2A Bomber, accompanied by an F-15E Strike Eagle and an F-16C Fighting Falcon. In this view, as they depart into the sun, the F-15E is on the left and the F-16C is on the right. They flew along the parade route from West to East.

I wish it could have been a bit sharper but it was getting dark and I had the camera pushed to 1600 ISO using a 100-300mm Zoom. Exposure was 1/40th sec @ f5.6

Quebec 1 and Quebec 2. Those are the Radio Callsigns for the two Super Scoopers from Canada. Every year, beginning Oct 1, these 2 amazing airplanes are loaned to the Southern California area during our Fire Season. They were at the Hollywwod Burbank Airport and special permission was given to use them early to fight this fire. They fly to a nearby lake, or even the ocean, and scoop up 1000's of gallons of water which they precisely drop on the hot spots.

Taken from about 22,000 feet, flying from Oakland to Burbank, I saw this lone cloud above the Frazier Park area Northwest of Los Angeles. The shadow from the cloud can be seen on the ground below. I had someone tell me the cloud looked like a buffalo lying on it s side.

Green Anole 12004 viewsThis species is native to North America, where it is found mainly in the southeastern parts of the continent. But, the species has been introduced into Hawaii. That’s where I saw this one, in a garden near Poipu Beach. He was feasting on insects and didn’t mind me photographing him. They can change color in a matter of seconds and have been inaccurately called the “Chameleon” of North America. In this shot he is perched on a White Orchid waiting for the next morsel to fly by.

We were heading West over Arizona and the hot afternoon Sun was creating some beautiful Cumulonimbus clouds. We were flying at approximately 32,000 Feet and the Thermal Convection was driving these clouds well above us. Taken July 23, 2007.
