What a Beautiful Evening. High of 94.5 Degrees at my station today. Its 7:00 p.m. and it s still 78 degrees. Mild "Santa Ana conditions with winds out of the North at 10 MPH. The Moon is approximately 63 Hours old and is joined in the evening sky by Venus, The "Evening Star". A perfect photo opportunity.

The Indian Mongoose was originally brought to Hawaii in 1883. It was believed that the mongooses (no, not mongeese) would help control the rising Rat population on the Islands, but the mongoose is mostly active during the day while the rats were active at night and they didn't have much of an impact on the rats.

Minotaur 11756 viewsSeptember 22, 2005 marked the first Vandenberg AFB dusk launch in nearly three years. The Minotaur booster Lifted off from south Vandenberg just after 19:24 PDT, the start of a 16-minute launch window.
This first photo in the series shows the the Minotaur streaking southward from Vandenberg as it gains altitude.
