Room With A View1402 viewsThe Kiahuna Plantation & the Beach Bungalows is a series of small 2 story bungalows that house from 2 to 6 units depending on how many bedrooms. Our second story one bedroom was very nice.

Waimea Canyon Lookout1402 viewsWe had to do a LITTLE of the touristy stuff. And, take the obligatory tourist photo. Only thing missing here is the Star News (you have to be a Star News subscriber to get that).

Hawaiian Monk Seal 21402 viewsThe Hawaiian monk seal is among the most endangered of all seal species. The population of Hawaiian monk seals is in decline. In 2008, it was estimated that only 1200 individuals remain. This Monk Seal was seen on Poipu Beach. He looks very content, enjoying the warm Spring Sun.

Another Day In Paradise1399 viewsWhile it wasn't the most exceptional pass of the ISS, it was a good pass for photography. The ISS passed from Northwest to North-Northeast at only 58 degrees above the horizon but it was very bright at -3.4 Magnitude of Brightness.
This image was a 2 minute exposure at f6.3, ISO 100. The North Star is just right of center and is a precise dot while the other stars near the edge of the frame are streaked because of the Earth's rotation. The clouds are blurred because of their movement in the wind.

Hawaiian Monk Seal 11398 viewsKnown to the native Hawaiians as ʻIlio-holo-i-ka-uaua, or "dog that runs in rough water". Its common name derives from its round head covered with short hairs, giving it the appearance of a medieval friar. The name may also reflect the fact that it lives a solitary existence relative to other species that collect in large colonies. When they come up to shore, the locals place ropes around them to keep people at a safe distance.

Another Day Another Bear 7-23-2018762 viewsThis Bear has been on the street several times the last few days. He was leisurely enjoying some fresh oranges off of our neighbors tree. Didn't seem to be bothered by us at all and likewise it didn't bother us.

He has Yellow Tag #51 in his ear. I'm trying to find out more about him from Fish and Wildlife.

Bear On The Street 8-26-2018703 viewsNot an image from the CritterCam but another example of wildlife on the street. He she was watching me watching her. Then she just went back to eating lunch.

Hey Boo Boo. There's a picnic on Hollyslope Road683 viewsMeet Bear #513. According to the Department of Fish and Wildlife its a young female that tagged in Monrovia in May of 2017. They estimated her weight then at 200 pounds. She was pretty calm and wasn't bothered by me taking pictures of her. I used a telephoto lens of course.
