Another Day In Paradise1552 viewsWhile it wasn't the most exceptional pass of the ISS, it was a good pass for photography. The ISS passed from Northwest to North-Northeast at only 58 degrees above the horizon but it was very bright at -3.4 Magnitude of Brightness.
This image was a 2 minute exposure at f6.3, ISO 100. The North Star is just right of center and is a precise dot while the other stars near the edge of the frame are streaked because of the Earth's rotation. The clouds are blurred because of their movement in the wind.

Hawaiian Monk Seal 11552 viewsKnown to the native Hawaiians as ʻIlio-holo-i-ka-uaua, or "dog that runs in rough water". Its common name derives from its round head covered with short hairs, giving it the appearance of a medieval friar. The name may also reflect the fact that it lives a solitary existence relative to other species that collect in large colonies. When they come up to shore, the locals place ropes around them to keep people at a safe distance.

View From The Balcony1551 viewsThis is the view from our second story balcony. It was a wonderful place to sit and relax in the evening listening to the surf roll in.

Room With A View1551 viewsThe Kiahuna Plantation & the Beach Bungalows is a series of small 2 story bungalows that house from 2 to 6 units depending on how many bedrooms. Our second story one bedroom was very nice.

Another Day Another Bear 7-23-2018935 viewsThis Bear has been on the street several times the last few days. He was leisurely enjoying some fresh oranges off of our neighbors tree. Didn't seem to be bothered by us at all and likewise it didn't bother us.

He has Yellow Tag #51 in his ear. I'm trying to find out more about him from Fish and Wildlife.

Hey Boo Boo. There's a picnic on Hollyslope Road856 viewsMeet Bear #513. According to the Department of Fish and Wildlife its a young female that tagged in Monrovia in May of 2017. They estimated her weight then at 200 pounds. She was pretty calm and wasn't bothered by me taking pictures of her. I used a telephoto lens of course.

A Bird In The Hand . . . 145 viewsThanks for the heads up from Altadena WeatherCam viewers Mario & Brenda Miralles. This Black Phoebe stopped by to visit Mr. Bill this morning. I’ve seen them searching for flies around the yard (which they are good at). I didn’t know they liked to hang out with Mr. Bill also.
