Coastal Western Whiptail2356 viewsThese Lizards are inhabitants of Coastal Southern California and can grow up to 13 inches in length. They are very cautious and very fast. It was hard getting a photo of it. This was taken in the Santa Monica Mountains near Malibu.

Several storms out in the Pacific were beginning to affect Northern California with heavy rain. These same storms were causing heavy surf all along the coast. A large west-northwest swell continued to affect the outer coastal waters of Southern California today. Breakers of 8 to 12 feet, with locally higher sets, pounded the coastline. Here you see the waves crashing against the end of the Manhattan Beach Pier

Thanks to the wealth of information available on the Internet, I found out that "WALLAROO" was part of the 303rd Bomber Group and flew 35 Combat Missions before being shot down Jan 14, 1944.
Glad my Dad wasn't on it.
