Red Flag Sunrise1964 viewsTaken 2/7/06
Another Red Flag Warning for Southern California. Gusty Winds and extreme Low Humidity prompted another day of Red Flag Fire Danger. This beautiful Sunrise, looking East from Downtown Los Angeles is unfortunately made more dramatic with smoke in the air from a fire burning out of control in the Cleveland National Forest. Over 3500 Acres have burned with some progress being made this morning. Fortunately there have not been any injuries or homes lost at this point in time.

The B-1B Lancer Strategic Bomber makes a High Speed Low-Level Fly-By over the Rose Bowl in Pasadena at the beginning of the USC vs Texas Championship Game. I wish it could have been a bit sharper but it was getting dark and I had the camera pushed to 1600 ISO using a 100-300mm Zoom. Exposure was 1/40th sec @ f5.6

H21962 viewsThe Humming Birds love the Mexican Sage (Salvia Leucantha) in my yard. They are very territorial and will stake claim to a favorite bush and confront other Humming Birds who try to feed on it.

Cumulonimbus2445 viewsI was flying back from Boston and got a chance to see some spectacular weather from the air. We were heading West over Arizona and the hot afternoon Sun was creating some beautiful Cumulonimbus clouds. We were flying at approximately 32,000 Feet and the Thermal Convection was driving these clouds well above us. Taken July 23, 2007.

DC-102367 viewsThe McDonnell Douglas DC-10 is classified as a "Very Large Air Tanker" by Cal-Fire. Ya think !

Originally delivered as a civil passenger plane, the DC-10 can carry a whopping 12,000 Gallons of Fire Retardant. It can drop it's load in 8 seconds in a line 300 feet wide and one mile long!

Geminids #23023 viewsAs mentioned in the earlier photo, I had the WebCam set up to capture an image every minute. This is the second Geminid Meteor I captured. This one was in the early morning hours and the radiant had risen high in the sky and the metoer is going almost straight down in the middle of the image.

Thank You1993 viewsSigns of appreciation, like this one at the top of Lake Avenue, were popping up all over the place. Whether it was here at the entrance to the Sam Merrill Trail, or on someone's wall or fence, homemade signs thanking the Firefighters and First Responders were visible everywhere.
