Another Day In Paradise1738 viewsWhile it wasn't the most exceptional pass of the ISS, it was a good pass for photography. The ISS passed from Northwest to North-Northeast at only 58 degrees above the horizon but it was very bright at -3.4 Magnitude of Brightness.
This image was a 2 minute exposure at f6.3, ISO 100. The North Star is just right of center and is a precise dot while the other stars near the edge of the frame are streaked because of the Earth's rotation. The clouds are blurred because of their movement in the wind.

Draconids_1.jpg
Draconid Meteor 13377 viewsThe October Draconids, in the past also unofficially known as the Giacobinids, are a meteor shower whose parent body is the periodic comet 21P/Giacobini-Zinner. A Draconid meteor shower is expected to happen in early October of 2011, and the best nights for viewing are expected to be October 8–10. The Draconids are best viewed after sunset in an area with a clear dark sky. They are swift and short in length. The Altadena WeatherCam caught this one the evening before the expected peak.Oct 12, 2011

Double Rainbow 9/4/20113515 viewsA high pressure system over the four corners area combined with a low pressure system off the southern california coast steered subtropical moisture into Southern California this evening. This provided Altadena residents with rare summer showers and a thunderstorm this evening.

This double Rainbow was seen at Sunset.

Sno-Caps3762 viewsRemember the Nestle Candy you used to get at the Movies? Well, that's what came to mind when thinking of a name for this image.

A very cold Low Pressure System moved down the coast from Alaska and combined with some moisture from the South to give us this beautiful snowfall down to about 3000'. This image was taken at 3:06 a.m. and the temperature dropped down to 33.1 Degrees just before sunrise.

Green Anole 12032 viewsThis species is native to North America, where it is found mainly in the southeastern parts of the continent. But, the species has been introduced into Hawaii. That’s where I saw this one, in a garden near Poipu Beach. He was feasting on insects and didn’t mind me photographing him. They can change color in a matter of seconds and have been inaccurately called the “Chameleon” of North America. In this shot he is perched on a White Orchid waiting for the next morsel to fly by.
