While driving along the Saddle Road that goes between Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, my Brother and I encountered this warning sign. Green Anole 12503 viewsThis species is native to North America, where it is found mainly in the southeastern parts of the continent. But, the species has been introduced into Hawaii. That’s where I saw this one, in a garden near Poipu Beach. He was feasting on insects and didn’t mind me photographing him. They can change color in a matter of seconds and have been inaccurately called the “Chameleon” of North America. In this shot he is perched on a White Orchid waiting for the next morsel to fly by.
