Sundown Dunes2612 viewsThe setting Sun was casting an orange hue on the Sand Dunes at Dumont. Dumont is located 30 miles North of Baker CA near the Southern tip of Death Valley. It was a windy day and the winds in the upper atmosphere were affecting the clouds. I m not sure I would classify this cloud as Lenticular but it was getting close. Taken 3/25/06.

Thank You2064 viewsSigns of appreciation, like this one at the top of Lake Avenue, were popping up all over the place. Whether it was here at the entrance to the Sam Merrill Trail, or on someone's wall or fence, homemade signs thanking the Firefighters and First Responders were visible everywhere.

http://www.collingsfoundation.org/menu.htm and she was in pretty nice shape. I beleive this is a B-17G model. The Collings Foundation is a Non-Profit Group so the cost of our ride was Tax Deductible. This was a Birthday Present for My Father-In-Law. Of course I HAD to go along. We flew out of the Burbank Airport.

Located on the Northeast side of the Big Island of Hawai’i, the Waipi’o Valley is a plush green area of the island that receives annual rainfall of over 200 inches per year. Access to the Valley Floor was over an exciting 4WD Road with a 25% Grade that drops almost 1000 feet in about a mile. It was well worth renting the Jeep Cherokee at the airport. Once at the bottom you are treated to a beautiful mile long Black Sand Beach.

I believe this is a Yellow Canary. No fancy names. At any rate, he has survived the wrath of the Mongoose on Hawai'i. I really enjoyed all the different animals and birds that I saw on this trip. The warm weather wasn’t bad either.

DC-102442 viewsThe McDonnell Douglas DC-10 is classified as a "Very Large Air Tanker" by Cal-Fire. Ya think !

Originally delivered as a civil passenger plane, the DC-10 can carry a whopping 12,000 Gallons of Fire Retardant. It can drop it's load in 8 seconds in a line 300 feet wide and one mile long!
